Crafting on a rainy day...

I just finished my project for Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge #22, which was based off of Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."  I decided to make some home decor.  I got this wooden oval piece from Hobby Lobby, painted it, distressed it, and covered it with paper.  I made the house shape from a cereal box and the flowers from paper.  I had fun making it!

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge

Ok, so I was greatful to find this blog through YouTube I think???  Can't remember...but I thank the Lord for Stampin' Sisters in Christ because I struggle with incorporating the Word in my artwork and now I see that it may be a challenge but it's possible.

The challenge was to make what is broken look beautiful and repaired...as Jesus can repair us.  So, here's what I came up with...

Most of what I used were scraps of papers I had left over from other projects which I pieced together for this card.  I did alot of distressing.  The butterfly base is made from recycled cardboard and I also hot glued jewelry wire to the cardboard to flex the wings a bit.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  I had lots of fun making this card!  If you have questions or comments please let me know.  Have a blessed day!

My first Color Inspiration Challenge

I wanted to take on Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge # 57 and was really excited to see what I could come up with.

I decided to create a simple blank card that could be used for just about anything.

My background is in painting so I don't have a lot of scrapbooking supplies around.  So, I decided to use gouache which is similar to water color and paint on some watercolor paper.  Besides the paint, I used Scribbles which is just like 3-D glitter paint that made the shoes sparkle.  I imagine this would be a cute card for a party invite or for a friend.

Here is my original sketch.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  I had fun painting and coming up with ideas.

My new years resolution painting

I chose this painting for my new years resolution.  I plan to finish it within the month.  I started it my senior year of college and my instructor did like the triangles for some reason.  Oh yeah she said it was too decorative!  I love decoration by the way.  So I wasn't able to finish it in class so I stopped working on it.  I am embracing my own work again and have decided to complete this.  It's watercolor and gauche (think thats spelled right) and I'm excited to start!  I will def post once I'm done.

Sat Morning Pick-Me-Up!

I got up this morning and thanked God for another day.  Did laundry (boring) and then zipped over to Tuesday Morning where I bought some American Crafts white vinyl thickers and adhesive badges.  I saw a You Tube haul by Mammatiffy last night so I wanted to check out my Tuesday Morning....both were $0.69 each!  I kinda had to dig though but it was worth it.  The store here didn't have as much as hers did but I still got a good deal.

My next stop was Micheals and I picked up some chipboard books by Mary Engelbreit which were both $1 each (big spender I know!).  And I plan to make wall hangings from them since my walls are still kinda bare.

Well, that's it.  When I'm done crafting I'll def post.

Crafting Time!

I took a trip to Hobby Lobby earlier this week and I wanted to do some type of craft project so i saw that all the Paper Studio stuff was 50% off so I got some chipboard letters, bling, and oh the paper stacks were also 50% off so I got the 8x8 Whimpsy Stack from DCWV. I got some wooden door signs for $1 and decided to make one for a friend of mine. I wasn't able to get her anything for her b-day so I made her a door sign.

I used my chipboard letters, some old buttons, i got the butterfly ribbon @ regular price $1, and i distressed the edges of the sign and the chipboard letters with Martha Stewart petal inks (i painted the letters white and then black and then inked them brown and sanded them, i added glitter too). I got the flower from the floral section, the stems were 50% off as well. I traced around the door sign and cut it out (painted it blue on both sides) then glued my paper down to the flat side and sanded the edges. I painted both sides b/c i didn't want the wood to show when i sanded the edges of the paper.

On the back I made a pocket and made a tag with the Paper Studio bling...i used an old button i had in my sewing kit.

here are some more papers from the stack...just really cute!

Hope u try it or like it (leave a comment).....later! :}
