This is my very first blog hop! Welcome to my blog!
This blog hop is hosted by the Artsy Addicts group over on Facebook.
My technique today is Stenciling with Modeling Paste! I know this technique isn't new but it's one of my favorite.
I started with a simple $1.00 frame from Micheal's. You will also need a large palette knife, Modeling Paste, stencils, your fav paint colors, and you are ready to go!
My stencils are from Walmart...I thought they were plastic but they are just flimsy cardboard...but they did alright for this project.
I used Tim Holtz grunge wings and random letters to create depth (optional).
I used Glossy Accents to adhere letters and wings.
I painted the whole frame white to start with one color.
Place your stencil down and apply your modeling paste...trying to smooth out your paste like frosting a cake.
I switched to a larger palette knife which spreads much better.
This is what your project will look like. I let my project dry for 2-3 hours.
I wanted to add more texture so I used this mesh on the wings.
After that dried I was ready to paint.
When you first paint, there might be a bit of small fragments that break from the molding paste which is okay because it will just add the character of the piece!
As you can see I added a bunch of layers! Can't make up my mind sometimes!
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Your next stop is....Teri Dorowsky!
