Artsy Addicts Blog Hop - Techniques

Hi There!
This is my very first blog hop!  Welcome to my blog!

This blog hop is hosted by the Artsy Addicts group over on Facebook.

My technique today is Stenciling with Modeling Paste!  I know this technique isn't new but it's one of my favorite.

I started with a simple $1.00 frame from Micheal's.  You will also need a large palette knife, Modeling Paste, stencils, your fav paint colors, and you are ready to go!

My stencils are from Walmart...I thought they were plastic but they are just flimsy cardboard...but they did alright for this project.

I used Tim Holtz grunge wings and random letters to create depth (optional).

I used Glossy Accents to adhere letters and wings.

I painted the whole frame white to start with one color.

Place your stencil down and apply your modeling paste...trying to smooth out your paste like frosting a cake.

I switched to a larger palette knife which spreads much better.

This is what your project will look like.  I let my project dry for 2-3 hours.

I wanted to add more texture so I used this mesh on the wings.

After that dried I was ready to paint.

When you first paint, there might be a bit of small fragments that break from the molding paste which is okay because it will just add the character of the piece!

As you can see I added a bunch of layers!  Can't make up my mind sometimes!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Your next stop is....Teri Dorowsky!

More Paper Than Shoes DT Project

Good Afternoon,
I am extremely happy to post my first DT project using Anna's amazing handmade flowers!  I had so many ideas but I settled on this altered wooden frame you can find at just about any craft store.  I started playing with my acrylics by tilting the frame and making drips with the paint.  I wanted the background to be subtle so that the flowers would stand out.  You can purchase her flowers right from her Etsy store!

This frame is now ready for a quote or fav photo!  I hope this inspires you to create today!

Other supplies: K & Company bees and butterflies
Recollections leaves

Thank you for stopping by and please check out MPTS!

CPA's challenge for April was to use this awesome Spring color palette, incorporate textures and just go wild.  I had this tiny canvas hanging around and I wanted to alter it using the inspiration colors.

I have been loving shabby chic lately so I couldn't help myself....here is my creation....
